How often in history have flames heralded new beginnings? Whether it be by Mother Natures hand or by man's, fire has often been the bringer of death from which new life began. Fire is often associated with evil too and man has certainly used it cruelly as well as benficially. Therefore, with this balance so obvious, it is the perfect herald to launch a history page. For is not history the only true guide to our future? Without its lessons and experience are we not lost children repeating our errors?
Enough of philosophy though. My history section concentrates on two remote fronts whose common denominator is me. First is the Tribal history and the origins of the family name. Second is a history of Stoke-on-Trent with particular attention paid to my home town of Longton. Longton is possibly the newest town to make up the original 'Potteries' area of North Staffordshire but its short history has been colourful.
Your reading choice is your own however, whichever way you choose to read each section, thank you and I hope that you find it worthwhile. Enjoy...
